A long time ago in a comic book store far far away…..oh wait, wrong franchise! Marvel Studios have had major success since the very first Iron Man movie kicked off the MCU back in 2008. Then a few years later, we get our first Avengers movie, then Age of Ultron, and now Infinity War and Endgame. These movies have been major successes for Marvel and Disney. And to see this amazing chapter close the way it did, is very phenomenal.
I posted on my Instagram post, that I felt like the first two hours of Endgame played like almost a comedy, with notes of drama scattered in. And I ended up seeing this movie twice, and I still feel the same way as I did seeing it the first time. There were some scenes that I felt were not needed and some that just seemed to lag on for longer than it should. But I will say that the dramatic scenes that took place, were really good.
One constant that remained true throughout the film, from beginning to end, was the hope that Captain America had to make things right. From the first time we meet him in Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers has always had hope in his heart and a sheer will to do good and do what’s right. That’s why he said “I can do this all day”, because he just wants to keep fighting and ensure his team and his world is OK.
The entire third act of Endgame is possibly the greatest thing to see in the history of comic book movies. This was really a crown jewel of what a true comic book movie can be and possibly should be when the narrative calls for it. I can promise you, it will leave you in tears while cheering at the same time. It almost plays out like a Thank You, to not just comic book fans or fans of the MCU, but to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for creating these characters and showing the world that just one person (powers or not) can make a huge impact in the world.
If you have seen even one MCU movie, or if you just love comic book movies, you must see Endgame. It really is the end to one amazing saga Marvel Studios has created. I think both kids and adults will have a great time with this movie. It is not the best MCU movie overall, but will sure make for one heck of a time that you will never forget. And yes, bring the tissues. I give Avengers Endgame: 4.5 Out of 5!
